Sample activities

In this new post I'll upload a PowerPoint presentation containing some sample activities intended to be used in our English classes. They're mainly designed for kids but we secondary teachers can adapt them to our students' level.

First take a look at it and I'd like to see your comments on the extent to which you think they are appliable in or classes. Ejoy,

Bugs Bunny

Do you Know anything about Bugs Bunny??

The first thing you need to know is that it is a rabbit
But, do you think we'd be here talking about a wild rabbit?? No, in fact we're talking about a character in a comic stip which later moved to the movies.
This is a a first attempt at actually inserting a video of my own, without "traveling" to youtube or myspace.
:-)

listening to a new song

Now you'll listen to a song by a singer called Estelle. This is pretty new. I want you to decide on the topic of the song an attempt a summary of it.
Good luck!!

Viva la Vida

Listen to the following song and answer the questions:

What's the meaning of: "I used to roll the dice"?
Why do you think the title of the song is in Spanish?
What do you know about Coldplay?

speaking exercise_1

This exercise is really easy: you just have to take a look at the picture and comment on it. You can first try and write a comment on it but remember that the main aim of the exercise is to present the picture to the whole class.

Before actually setting to work, take a look at the report written in September 11, 2002.

On Tuesday morning, September 11, 2001, the U.S. is attacked by terrorists
in New York City and Washington, and the world changes forever.

Sept. 11: Hijacked jetliners hit the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon outside
Washington. A fourth hijacked plane crashes into a field in Pennsylvania. Trading on Wall
Street is stopped. The Federal Aviation Administration halts all flight operations at the nation's
airports for the first time in U.S. history. U.S. military is placed on high alert. President Bush
addresses the nation and vows to "find those responsible and bring them to justice." Hundreds
of New York City firemen and policemen sent to rescue WTC workers are lost when the WTC
Twin Towers collapse. Reaction from international leaders is swift as world leaders react with
outrage over the attacks.
Welcome to English Class!!!
